Milestones of PPCS

  • 1997, February

    Pain And Palliative Care Society (PPCS) was registered, In the beginning, the outpatient clinic of the Society functioned two days a week in a small space provided by the West Fort Hospital.

  • 1998, March

    Occasional home care visits were being conducted, initially using the Ambulance of District Hospital and later with the Qualis Van donated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation solely for this purpose

  • 1999, June

    Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Kerala accorded sanction to function Pain and Palliative Care Clinic at the old Medical College Hospital, Thrissur in collaboration with The District Hospital, subject to the condition that no additional expenditure in this regard would be met by the Govt.

  • 1999, September

    Outpatient clinic started functioning at the old Medical College Hospital, Thrissur, three day a week in the afternoons

  • 2006, February

    The Medical College was shifted to Mulamkunnathukavu and the District Hospital to the buildings vacated by the former, Thrissur District Panchayat gave us permission to function in the Old District Hospital Building.

  • 2006, May

    The whole activities of the Pain and Palliative Care Society i.e. outpatient unit, training centre and Inpatient unit, physiotherapy unit, are centered in the Old district hospital building.

  • 2006, July

    "Institute Of Palliative Care"  was set up at the Old District Hospital Building with the support of Rotary Club of Trichur Central which provided equipment worth Rs: 7.3 lakhs to give necessary training to Doctors, Nurses, and Volunteers to equip them to work in the different areas of Palliative medicines, care, and treatment.

  • 2007, October

    The website painandpalliativecarethrissur.org was launched. The site was created and maintained by the Novelist and short story writer E Harikumar, till his demise on 2020, March.

  • 2008, October

    The Inpatient Unit was inaugurated by Shri. C.K. Chandrappan, M.P., along with Adv. Therambil Ramakrishnan, our M.L.A

  • 2011, September

    Our physiotherapy unit started functioning.

  • 2015, November

    CHETANA - A Support Group for Kidney Patients started

  • 2015, December

    Considering our service in the Society for the last eighteen years, Govt of Kerala has sanctioned twenty-five cents of land for us along with two other similar agencies, in Aranattukara Village, Olarikkara, of Thrissur Corporation. Here we are constructing a Hospice and a Daycare Centre

    Colorectal Cancer Support Group (CRCSG) started working in February with 50 patients.

  • 2017, April

    Mental Health Group was formed within PPCS with the support of MHAT, Kozhikode
